Let the Science Do the Talking
It is no secret to any educator that the people making the decisions that directly impact our students often have spent little to no time in the classroom. Teachers have found themselves grappling with having to teach more and more standards with far less time for recess and the activities that bring joy and build community. Lack of funding in education has meant eliminating or cutting programs such as free and reduced lunch, after school care, and arts classes. People with no experience in teaching children are determining what can and can't be done in our classrooms. Teachers know our children. We know what works and what doesn't. We know makes happy students and peaceful classrooms. We understand how children learn. Listen to us. And if you won't listen to us, at least listen to the science.
